A Disaster Averted - A New Kind of Terrorism in Germany - pp 17.09.2007

German authorities say the recent arrest of three young would-be bombers has averted a catastrophe. They say the men had been planning a series of attcks far worse than those that were carried out in London or Madrid. The immediate danger may have been averted but investigations are still underway, and are focussing on 50 further suspects. Germany is grappling with a new kind of threat. The British call them home-grown terrorists. But what drives a young German man from a good home to want to kill people in the name of Islam?
