Hopes were high for positive change when Nigerian President Bola Tinubu was first elected to chair the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) in July 2023. Instead, Niger, Burkina Faso and Mali have exited the bloc. Can ECOWAS withstand the turmoil?
