Bayern Munich enjoyed a comfortable win against FC Basel on Wednesday, as the German side thrashed the Swiss 3-0 to wrap up the Champions League group stage.

Basel seemingly didn't have a chance, as Franck Ribery and Anatoliy Tymoshchuk scored twice within two minutes in the first half. Ribery later added to Bayern's lead, scoring again four minutes after half-time.

Bayern now stand at the top of Group E, a positioning that was already secure going into tonight's match. In Wednesday's other Group E game, AS Roma drew 1-1 at Cluj, advancing to the knockout stage second in the group.

Basel failed to qualify for the Champions League, finishing third in the group. Instead they go through to the Europa League.

Real Madrid keep streak alive

Group F saw Chelsea's perfect record end with a 1-0 loss to Olympique Marseille, while Slovakian side Zilina fell to Spartak Moscow 2-1. Moscow finished third in the group.

In Group G, Real Madrid kept up their unbeaten streak thanks to a 4-0 win over Auxerre, and Ajax Amsterdam blanked Milan 2-0.

Group H had both qualifying spots open going into the last day of play. Ukrainian side Shakhtar Donetsk ended up finishing top of the group by winning 2-0 at home to Portuguese team FC Braga, moving on with 13 points. Arsenal rounded out the final three teams to reach the knockout stage following their 3-1 triumph over Partizan Belgrade.
