Gladbach rescues a point, Hamburg triumph in derby

Hoffenheim seemed to be on the verge of an important home victory towards their survival, but Gladbach had other plans. The Foals overcame a two-goal deficit in the second half, increasing their unbeaten run to 10 matches in all competition. Ilicevic curled an early opener into the top corner, and launched a ball into the stride of Nicolai Müller in a move that defined the counter-attack in the second half. The three points vaulted Hamburg into sixth place going into Sunday matches, and Werder Bremen were whistled off the field as they sink closer to the relegation zone.

Bayern Munich 2-0 Hertha Berlin

A day after their , Bayern showed they can be just as profitable on the field as they are off it. Even a well-constructed Berlin wall could not prevent the defending champions from finding the back of the net, with Pep Guardiola throwing Jerome Boateng and Javi Martinez in and out of midfield. Thomas Müller opened the scoring with his 13th league goal, already matching his career-best Bundesliga tally after 14 matches. Bayern now have an 11-point lead going into the three matches on Sunday.

Hannover 4-0 Ingolstadt

Nobody had been able to find a way past Ingolstadt this season, but Hannover found the right formula to blow out the Bundesliga rookies in style. Marcelo bopped in the opening goal from a Miiko Albornoz corner, and Kenan Karaman blew open the match with a goal and an assist in the first half. Hannover scored four goals for the first time in over two years, and the victory lifted them further away from the relegation zone.

Mainz 2-1 Eintracht Frankfurt

Frankfurt had to play 50 minutes of the match with ten men, Alexander Meier getting set off for the first time in his career after picking up a second yellow card in the 40th minute. Yoshinori Muto and Yunus Malli picked up their sixth and seventh goals of the season to secure the result. Haris Seferovic scored a goal against the run of play, but Mainz maintained their pressure with the man advantage. After starting the season strong, Frankfurt is now slipping closer to the relegation zone, and Mainz leapfrog Schalke and Leverkusen to provisionally take hold of seventh place in the table.
