Bundesliga Matchday 13 in Pictures
RB Leipzig and Hoffenheim stay undefeated after 13 games, while Werder Bremen and one Borussia also enjoy their football on Saturday afternoon. Leverkusen pay the penalty.
Leipzig win thanks to ref's penalty "mistake"
It's one of the major talking points of the weekend. Just 19 seconds in to Schalke's clash with RB Leipzig on Saturday, referee Bastian Dankert awarded a penalty after seeing a foul from Schalke goalkeeper Ralf Fährmann. It was a mistake, one Dankert later admitted, but it didn't stop Werner scoring from the spot and Leipzig going on to win 2-1. RB stay undefeated and top of the table as a result.
Time to celebrate again!
After five games without a win, Werder Bremen picked up a huge three points in the weekend's first relegation battle, beating Ingolstadt 2-1. Max Kruse and Fin Bartels scored the goals to cancel out Markus Suttner's equalizer. The defeat is Maik Walpurgis' first as Ingolstadt head coach.
Hamburg finally find elusive first win
It may not look like he knows much about it here but Michael Gregoritsch's excelllent diving header set Hamburg on their way to their first league win of the campaign in the weekend's other relegation clash on Sunday. A late Matthias Ostrzolek sealed the three points and moves HSV off the bottom of the table but Darmstadt have lost their last four.
No mercy for woeful Wolfsburg
Hertha Berlin deservedly fought back to take all three points from their trip to Wolfsburg thanks to a last-minute penalty from Salomon Kalou. Wolfsburg had twice taken the lead but couldn't hold on and suffered their fourth consecutive home defeat. The result leaves perilously close to the relegation zone.
Leverkusen pay the penalty once again
Four penalties, four misses - Javier Hernandez was the latest Leverkusen man to miss from the spot this term as Bayer had to make do with a 1-1 draw against Freiburg. Hakan Calhanoglu had pulled Leverkusen level in a game they should have won. A point is a welcome change for Roger Schmidt's men though, they'd lost their previous two games.
Frankfurt and Augsburg share spoils
A pair of spectacular first half strikes from Branimir Hrgota (center) and Augsburg's Dong-Won Ji were the only goals in an entertaining end to the Bundesliga weekend on Sunday evening. Both players struck controlled half-volleys from just outside the box.
Hoffenheim take a step clear with Cologne win
Hoffenheim took another step on their march towards Europe with a 4-0 win over fellow continental hopefuls Cologne. Sandro Wagner was on target once again as the club delivered a clear statement of intent for the season ahead. Just like Leipzig, Hoffenheim remain undefeated after 13 games this season.
BVB send Gladbach into crisis
BVB hammered Gladbach 4-1 despite going a goal down early on. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was on hand to score twice and take his season tally to 15 but it was Ousmane Dembele who stole the show with his best BVB display to date. Dortmund move up to fifth but Gladbach are left looking over their shoulder in 13th.
Easy Bayern win in Mainz
Bayern Munich did not have it easy in November, conceding the top spot in the Bundesliga and losing to Borussia Dortmund. But Robert Lewandowski (right) helped get the Bavarians back on track with two goals on Friday night. Bayern went on to win 3-1, an important victory before their Champions League clash with Atletico Madrid.
