The 2015-16 season may be history, but there was no shortage of big news on Sunday as Stuttgart fired coach Jürgen Kramny one day after getting relegated. Meanwhile, Schalke have signed defender Naldo on a free transfer.

The ax didn't take long to fall. Less than 24 hours after losing to Wolfsburg and being sent down to division two, Stuttgart have announced that Jürgen Kramny is no longer their head coach.

Kramny started last season as a youth coach but was promoted to the first team last November after Stuttgart got off to a bad start and fired Alexander Zorniger. After an initial run of good form, Stuttgart again fell into a rut and were relegated on Saturday. Kramny will stay with the club, however, resuming his duties as coach of Stuttgart's U23 team.

Stuttgart have changed head coaches six times since 2013. There was no immediate announcement as to who would succeed Kramny.

On Sunday, Stuttgart's president Bernd Wahler resigned. And critics are calling for sporting director Robin Dutt to go as well, after Stuttgart were relegated for the first time in 41 years.

Naldo headed to Gelsenkirchen

Also on Sunday, Schalke announced they had signed Wolfsburg's central defender Naldo to a two-year contract on a free transfer. The 33-year-old Brazilian has scored 38 goals in 298 Bundesliga appearances for Bremen and Wolfsburg.

Schalke finished the season in fifth place, while 2015 runners-up and German Cup winners Wolfsburg came in eighth and will not be playing in European competition next season.

In other transfer news, US national Bobby Wood will be moving from second-division Union Berlin to Hamburg for a reported 3.5 million euros ($3.9m).
