"It's magic," whispers a young Japanese woman at the sight of the sherry blossom avenue in Bonn's Old Town. Totally mesmerized she pulls out her phone to capture this moment. Crowds of curious tourists are strolling through the narrow old streets - it is hard to get through.

The first cherry blossoms to bloom are the white ones in the Maxstrasse in mid-March. The pink flowers of the cherry blossoms, known as sakura in Japanese, in the Heerstrasse bloom later and only stick around for a short time. Click through the gallery above for a glimpse into Bonn's fleeting spring magic show.
