Warsaw, the capital of Poland, has seen rapid urbanization in recent decades. Skyscrapers and a variety of modern glass-and-concrete buildings have sprung up all over the city. As in any other urban area, this development has had an impact on air quality, biodiversity and temperature in the city.

In an attempt to help Warsaw become greener, the Museum of the History of Polish Jews "Polin" has launched an initiative that is part of a year of education projects that has been given a €1 million ($1.08 million) grant from the German Foreign Ministry  This initiative seeks to turn the area in front of the museum into a flower meadow.
