November 20, 2017

Bundesliga club Borussia Dortmund have lifted the suspension of scoring star Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. The Gabon striker had been left out of the squad that lost to Stuttgart for disciplinary reasons.

Borussia Dortmund's sporting director, Michael Zorc, confirmed on Monday that Pierre-Emerik Aubameyang would return to the squad in time for their Champions League match against Tottenham Hotspur on Tuesday.

"He trained well on Friday and Saturday," Zorc told the German football publication Kicker.

Late last week, the Bundesliga club suspended the 28-year-old, who has 10 goals in 11 Bundesliga games this season, for what it described as "disciplinary reasons." This meant the Gabon international missed last Friday's match, which Dortmund lost 2-1 in Stuttgart.

Tardiness and a marketing video

The reported reasons for Aubameyang's suspension were repeatedly turning up to late for training and a video shoot for a marketing company, which took place at BVB's facilities without the club's permission. He is also believed to have been fined by the club.

This wasn't the first time that the French-born striker has been in hot water. Last November he was also suspended after he traveled to a party in Milan without the club's permission. Pictures of his junket to northern Italy subsequently emerged on Instagram.

Aubameyang's return will come with new coach Peter Bosz's job possibly on the line as Dortmund fight to keep their hopes of advancing from the Champions League group stage alive, before facing local rivals Schalke in the Bundesliga on Saturday.
