Lagerfeld chose the concert hall, which opened in January, to debut Chanel's pre-fall ready-to-wear range, which in previous years has been shown in venues including The Ritz in Paris and the Tsunamachi Mitsui Club in Tokyo.

Born in 1933 in Hamburg, Lagerfeld is one of the world's most famous fashion designers. He is the creative director at fashion houses Chanel and Fendi, and also runs an eponymous label. The Elbphilharmonie, a multimillion-dollar addition to Hamburg's skyline, has been lauded as the new jewel in Germany's cultural and architectural landscape.
