As you're about to see this past weekend was high-octane on the culture front as the curtain also rose on the 98th Richard Wagner Festival in Bayreuth. And for the first time since 1951 it wasn't Wagner's grandson Wolfgang who greeted the guests - but rather his great-granddaughters Katharina and Eva, who have taken over the job as joint festival directors. And they are going ahead with a move to make the rather elitist Bayreuth event more accessible to everyone.
