It could be the start of a new era for the Chinese workforce: some 1.2-Mmillion Foxconn employees are invited to elect a new works council. The move is even more surprising as Foxconn, the equipment manufacturer for international giants such as Apple, Microsoft and Nokia has so far been in the headlines mostly for bad working conditions at its factories.
