After Friday's unexpectedly close encounter with Hungary, Germany put on an emphatic display to beat a weak Chilean side. They led 17 -6 at half time before cruising to a 35-14 win.

Wetzlar's Kohlbacher was the main man for the Bad Boys, scoring eight goals, while goalkeeper Andreas Wolff was also one of the European champions' better performers.

A win on Tuesday against Saudi Arabia - regarded one of the competition's weakest sides - would secure Germany qualification to the competition's knockout stage, with two matches still remaining.

Coach Dagur Sigurdsson said he was "satisfied” his side's display. "It was important that all the players arrived at the tournament,” said the Icelandic coach.

"I want to win the title,” said Wolff after the game, while adding that despite the score, he was angry at himself with every goal Germany has conceded.

Wolff picked up an injury later that game but returned to action. Youngster Paul Drux also picked up an ankle injury in the 23rd minute, butit is not thought to be serious.

After facing Saudi Arabia on Tuesday, Germany will also face Belarus on Wednesday and Croatia on Friday.
