Finance officials from the G20 group of leading economies have agreed on a Risk Plan to identify countries whose policies -- if left unchecked -- could threaten global economic stability. The mechanism would use data on national debt, borrowing and trade balances to detect economic risk. The G20 gathered in Washington ahead of the IMF and the World Bank spring meeting this weekend.
