Opel workers in Germany are gearing up for nationwide protests today over the restructuring plans of parent company General Motors. Unions here have called for immediate strike action after the US carmaker's shock U-Turn on Wednesday over the sale its European operations. PETER: That decision was met with anger in Germany. And uncertainty still surrounds the future of plants here. GM has since announced plans to slash 10-thousand jobs at Opel and the Vauxhall brand in Britain. That's almost a fifth of GM's workforce in Europe.
