German TV Queen Brings Style to Dogs

As a former flight attendant, news anchorwoman and current star of Germany's political talk show scene, Sabine Christiansen certainly knows a thing or two about grooming. After all, she needs to look the part when hosting high-profile guests such as Bill and Hillary Clinton, Condoleezza Rice and Bill Gates, to name a few.

But while her own ash blond hair's long been well taken care of by her friend and celebrity coiffeur, Udo Walz, Christiansen's been desperately trying to find a salon for her crossbreed "Mona."

The search is over as Walz (photo), who also stars in an upcoming TV documentary soap about his life, has decided to branch out and open a dog spa in Berlin. Christiansen apparently loved the idea so much that she's decided to invest in the business, which will offer massages and Bach flower remedies for canines as well.

But the TV star, who is also a goodwill ambassador for the UN Children's Fund (UNICEF), made sure there's a charitable aspect to the venture as well. A portion of the salon's proceeds -- €35 ($47) for a full-body cut and €15 to €25 for a bath -- will go to a fund that helps poor people cover the costs of vet visits for their animals.

"If we manage to enable needy people to live with their animals, we've accomplished a lot," Christiansen told German tabloid Bild.
