Germany national team coach Chris Fleming will be appointed assistant coach at the NBA's Denver Nuggets after the European Championships, according to reports.

The American has won the German championship four times with Brose Baskets and was named German Coach of the Year in 2011 after securing three trophies in one season.

In November, he was appointed head coach of the national team and will lead his side into the 2015 European Championships.

Despite an expected agreement between the Nuggets and Germany's national association, qualification for the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio could complicate matters.

According to the Denver Post newspaper, Fleming will be Michael Malone's right-hand man when the European Championships come to a close in September.

Malone has said Fleming has the choice whether he wants to remain national team coach or leave his post with one year left on his deal.

Germany - with NBA stars Dirk Nowitzki and Dennis Schröder included - will play in Berlin for the duration of the first round with matches scheduled against Iceland, Turkey, Serbia, Spain and Italy.

The European Championships run from September 5 until September 20 with games played across the continent in Lille, Montpellier, Zagreb and Riga.
