Germany's Foreign Minister Heiko Maas has appealed to his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov to avert a humanitarian catastrophe in Syria's Idlib province. Berlin hopes that Moscow can use its influence on the Assad regime to prevent the killing of civilians.
