Germany's special relationship with Israel is changing with each new generation. Older Israelis cannot forget the horrors of the holocaust, and it remains first and foremost in their minds when asked about Germany. But as time passes, the grandchildren of this generation are developing a keen interest in a modern Germany -- more than 60 years after the Holocaust. And this has involved learning the language and embarking on trips to Europe. Berlin, for example has become a top tourist destination for many young Israelis. And aside from its historical importance, young Israelis view Berlin as one of Europe's most attractive cities.
