Heading for The Pub...For a Rub

While the practice may be common in certain types of bars in Thailand, this kind of thing does not happen very often in Europe, at least in reputable places. But instances are on the rise especially in Germany. Pub massages are becoming increasingly popular all across the country.
The Neck Attack company started off in Germany in Stuttgart in 2004 after the Australian fad of pub massage made its way over to Europe in the tales of incredulous European backpackers. The founders of Neck Attack have since expanded their staff from just two to more than 60 as the business has grown and spread nationwide.
No fixed price for ten minutes of relaxation
The trained masseuses and physiotherapists offer a range of Thai, Shiatsu and Ayurveda massage and depending on how much they enjoyed it, how much they have left after ordering drinks or how much alcohol they have consumed, punters pay a little or a lot for a rub. There is no fixed price for the massages which tend to last between five and ten minutes.
"Once you've encouraged them to try it, they really enjoy it and say how good it was afterwards," Chris Walther, a masseur with Neck Attack who works the pubs in Cologne, told Reuters.
"I think it's a great idea because most people who come here tend to have had a really stressful day at work,” said Sven Sastine a recipient on a massage at his local bar. “Being in the pub and getting a massage is ideal".
