Help for Gaming Addicts

March 3, 2014

Online gaming addicts spend up to 16 hours a day at their computers, playing games like World of Warcraft or League of Legends. In extreme cases, they live entirely in their virtual world. A clinic had developed a program to help them find their way back to reality.

More than 560,000 people in Germany are believed to have some form of computer addiction. The Münchwies clinic in the western German town of Neunkirchen treats hundreds of online addicts each year. Most are men, and many are high school or college students who often suffer from depression and fear of failure. In the inpatient program, they learn how to reestablish social contact with other people.
