Inside Europe: The battle for Mosul overshadowed

This week, Iraqi led forces began the operation to retake the city of Mosul from Islamic State militants. It's seen as a crucial battle in the fight to crush IS. But the operation is leading to diplomatic tensions between Baghdad and Ankara. The Turkish president, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, is demanding a role in efforts to retake the city. That's because Turkey has ties to Mosul dating back centuries.
