Italian Automaker Fiat may be considering a bid for Germany's GM subsidiary, Opel

There is growing speculation that FIAT will acquire Opel. The online version of German news magazine Der Spiegel, citing the head of Opel's works' council, says the Italian carmaker is prepared to sign a letter of intent next week for the GM subsidiary. Workers at Opel in Russelsheim are strongly opposed to any deal. German industry analysts, also say the link-up would not make good sense.
