A spud by any other name?

A spud is not just a spud. Some 200 varieties of native potatoes are cultivated by small-scale farmers on Chiloé, an island off the southern coast of Chile. The UN initiative "Globally Important Agricultural Heritage System" shows just how important rural communities are in conserving biodiversity.
