Kenya elections 2013

It was Kenya's first presidential election since the bloody post-vote violence in 2007. Back then, clashes between ethnic groups displaced some 600,000 people and left more than 1,100 dead.

During this election, Prime Minister Raila Odinga was in a neck-and-neck race against his deputy Uhuru Kenyatta as eight presidential hopefuls faced off. Although attacks against security forces cast a shadow over the first few hours of the vote, the election remained largely peaceful.
