Kosovo: End of mission for German armed forces

Kosovo is secure but the Balkan country experienced a bloody war with thousands of deaths at the end of the 1990s. The withdrawal of the German Armed Forces marks the beginning of an uncertain future for many Kosovars.

NATO's Kosovo force (KFOR), which included a German contingent, entered Kosovo almost 20 years ago after the war there had killed thousands, and hundreds of thousands had fled. It is now gradually pulling out. German troops are leaving the Prizren KFOR base, where Arben Gunga works as a translator and intercultural advisor.
