Kick-off: France gets the game underway

2. min.
The French look to stamp their authority on this match from the outset, chasing the South Koreans down and closing down space.

3. min.
The first real France attack earns a corner which is hit long by Malouda, too long for Viera who stretches in vain to reach the ball.

5. min.
Zidane and Wiltord combine well across the front of the South Korea defense but cannot find the ball through to Henry and Kim Dong-Jin clears.

6. min.
Henry picks up the ball, hesitates and sees Wiltord's run on the right. He lays a laconic pass into the winger's path and Wiltord slams a shot in which Lee Woon-Jae does well to beat out.

GOAL FRANCE

8. min.
Thierry Henry puts France ahead!
France's first goal in a World Cup for eight years is slotted away by the master finisher after a telepathic pass from Sylain Wiltord.

9. min.
Lee Ho gets the first card for slicing down Abidal

11. min.
Ziniedine Zidane shows the footwork which has scared defenses witless for nearly two decades before skimming a shot wide of the goal from 20 meters out.

12. min.
France look a completely different proposition from the one that meekly played out the 0-0 draw against Switzerland. South Korea have not got even a finger's grip on this game yet.

15. min.
Lee Chun-Soo weaves abit of magic of his own on the left flank to beat Willy Sagnol but the cross is too high and William Gallas easily clears upfield.

18. min.
France have taken their foot off the gas a bit but are content to build thoughtful moves through Wiltord and Zidane in the roaming midfield roles.

20. min.
South Korea take advantage of France's relaxed attitude and break first with Lee Chun-Soo and then Cho Jae-jin who gets to the by-line to send a cross in for Park Ji-Sung whose header is misdirected.

24. min.
France push on and Thierry Henry wrestles the ball off the South Korean defense on the edge of the box before hitting a shot on the turn. The ball is deflected out for a corner which Zidane heads well over on delivery.

27. min.
Henry again breaks through the defense but his two bodyguards close him down as he nears goal and Henry goes to ground. There is no call for a penalty, only a distasteful look from the France striker.

28. min.
Kim Young-Chul is the next in the ref's book

30. min.
A clear goal missed by the linesman
France have what they think is the second goal. Patrick Viera gets his head to a powerful cross and the ball looks to be a good 30 centimeters over the line when Lee Woon-Jae beats it out.

33. min.
France look in control still but South Korea are finding chinks in the armor. Lee Chun-Soo whips a huge 30 meter free-kick into the box which evades everyone and just misses fabien Barthez's left post to relief of every France supporter in the stadium.

38. min.
Thierry Henry gets a lovely pass from Wiltord and waits for movement in the box. Malouda shows first and Henry threats the pass between two defenders but Malouda cannot turn his men. The ball goes back to Henry but his shot is blocked.

44. min.
France are looking for a second goal as the first-half nears its close. It's all been about the French in the first period but the South Koreans are far from out of this game. If anything, they are in a good position as they could be at least 3-0 down by now.

45+3. min.
Half-time: A half of fits and starts
France play out the last few minutes as they have played much of the previous 45, in control and searching for a considered opening.

Second-half: South Korea restart the game

45. min.
France have attacked fitfully but still look the more dangerous side. South Korea need to hassle the French back line into mistakes if they want to get back into this game.

47. min.
Makelele gets Henry running again but chooses to pass out Patrick Viera when the striker was the better option. Viera lazily gives the ball away.

49. min.
South Korea are retaining possession better than the French with Viera in particular looking bored in midfield. If the Koreans can push through the disinterested midfield, they could punish the sleeping giants of France.

52. min.
France have been accused of being a team with sated ambitions fielding players which are both World Champions and European Champions. The first ten minutes of this half seems to justify that claim. Many don't seem to be bothered at all.

54. min.
Lee Chun-Soo sweeps in another long free-kick and Kim Dong-Jin just heads over.

57. min.
Wiltord battles his way to the edge of the penalty area but finds a wall of red shirts in front of him. He twists and turns but can't get through. His pass wide to Malouda is met with a wild shot that spins well wide.

59. min.
Frank Ribery comes on for Sylvain Wiltord
A strange substitution by Raymond Domenech. Ribery is a crowd favorite but Wiltord was one of only a handful of effective players out there in the white of France. There are at least four candidates currently being carried by the team which would have been a better choice to come off.

63. min.
France look to be sitting back hoping to hit a second on the break but there is no-one energetic enough to want to run at the South Koreans when they have the chance. The South Koreans, on the other hand, are fizzing all over the pitch looking for an opening.

66. min.
Frank Ribery looks to weave his way through the Korean defense but is blocked. But he gets the ball back and whips in a dangerous cross which Zidane just misses

70. min.
Chun Soo Lee comes off for Jung Hwan Ahn

71. min.
Midfielder off for attacker as Korea look to score
Dick Advocaat throws on Ahn as an extra attacker to put pressure on the French back line.

74. min.
Maloud tries to capitalize on a weak defensive header by firing a looping volley at Lee Woon-Jae's goal. Unlucky for the Frenchman who sees his shot just dip just over.

77. min.
Eric Abidal gets a yellow card
The France defender misses the game against Togo after picking up his second yellow in as many games.

79. min.
GOAL SOUTH KOREA

80. min.
Park Ji-Sung equalizes!
Park Ji-Sung gets on the end of a great head down and knocks the ball over a diving Barthez! It's only the second chance Korea has had on goal!

82. min.
If it wasn't clear before it certainly is now: the Leipzig stadium is full of South Koreans! The whole stadium seems to be jumping. Even the French fans - but only as a reaction to relentless celebration of the opposing supporters!

84. min.
Thierry Henry has a great chance to win the game. The France striker is one on one with the keeper but hits it to his right and the goalie guesses well.

85. min.
Zidane is booked for a petulant push
The France captain misses the Togo game -- which could be his last international game if France don't sort themselves out.

88. min.
Henry again but offside!! Willy Sagnol sends in a perfect low cross, Henry dives and heads wide but the flag is already up.

90. min.
Zidane for Trezeguet
France look desperate as they throw everyone forward. Zidane comes off for Trezeguet. Is this the last we will see of the great Zidane on the international stage??
