Millions of people across the world are uprooted by war, conflict and drought

S: Houlton/A: Jeppesen, HelleJuly 27, 2011

All over the world, there are currently more than 43 million refugees - most of them have fled to escape civil war, violence and unrest. While two out of three refugees are displaced within their own home countries, millions of others are forced to live in exile. As conflicts continue, many refugees can never return. The rights of refugees were first set out in the 1951 UN refugee convention.
