July 14, 2015

Work has begun to set up this year's Oktoberfest. Some 800 workers are already making preparations.

Trucks are bringing in the dismantled beer tents and cranes are being used to hoist the scenery into place. Preparations for the hugely popular 16-day event, which will run from September 19 until October 4, cost millions and are a huge scale operation.

On average, each visitor to the event drinks one liter of beer. Last year's beer bash saw 6.3 million vistors gulp down 7.7 million liters. This year one liter will cost 10 euros or more. Munich is tightening up security at the Oktoberfest to avoid overcrowding in the beer tents. Seats have been booked out for months. Last minute revelers need to arrive by noon.
