A day after his suspension was reduced to three games, Djilobodji issued an apology on his Twitter account regarding his throat-slitting gesture to De Blasis.

After colliding with De Blasis in Bremen's 1-1 draw with Mainz at the weekend, Djilobodji got up and made the motion towards De Blasis. After an appeal from Bremen, Djilobodji's suspension was reduced from four games to three, one of the three games resulting from his fifth yellow card this season. In addition to the suspension, Djilobodji also received a 15,000 euro ($16,800) fine.

The 29-year-old loanee from Chelsea will miss Bremen's upcoming Bundesliga matches against Borussia Dortmund, Augsburg and Wolfsburg. Bremen currently sit in 14th place in the Bundesliga, and are one point above relegation.
