People of Teheran have been gripped by election fever for the past two weeks

The people of Iran are voting for a new President on Friday. Incumbent Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is expected to face his biggest challenge from former Prime Minister Mir Hossein Mousavi. Ahmadinejad's posturing on the international stage may have angered the west, but it won him many fans in Iran - despite the poor economic situation in the country. Inflation is at over 50 percent, and many people - especially in rural areas - have gained little from Iran's wealth of natural reserves. Aware that his rival could snatch victory, Ahmadinejad fought a hard campaign. Also, it has been a modern election campaign for Iran - with candidates appearing in televised debates.. and using blogs and websites to promote their platforms.
