Ranking the most powerful passports

The Global Passport Power Rank 2017, which compares passports from the 193 UN member countries, states that a German passport will help you travel the furthest, - into 159 countries around the world.

That means that Germany shares the top spot with Singapore, the first time that the South Asian country has managed to take first place.

Those travelling on a German passport this year can enter 125 countries without a visa and a further 34 countries can be accessed with a simple visitors visa issued at arrival.   

Sweden takes second place with access to 158 countries.
Third place with access to 157 countries is shared by Denmark, Finland, Italy, France, Spain, Norway, the United Kingdom, USA and South Korea.
