Istanbul's only Woman Facade Cleaner

35-year-old Nazli Yilmaz works as a façade-cleaner on high-rise office buildings in Turkey’s metropolis Istanbul. She’s broken through a glass ceiling to scale glass facades in what’s always been strictly a man‘s world.

Nazli Yilmaz is raising her 11-year-old daughter alone. She’s separated from her husband. That in itself puts her in an unusual position for a woman in Turkish society. She’s kept the separation a secret from her conservative parents and eight siblings. She gets together with her girlfriends and lives as a modern woman. She’s proud of her country but worried about its political development under President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. A report by Philipp Zahn
