After the summer break, Global Ideas is heading back into the wide world. We're first making a trip to the Republic of Vanuatu in the South Pacific ocean. The island’s residents are hard hit by floods, cyclones, coastal erosion and water scarcity. Weather extremes due to climate change is on the rise with sea levels climbing and food and water becoming scarce. The majority of the island’s population depends on natural resources for their livelihoods with agriculture, forestry and fishing the main job-providers. Next week on Global Ideas, find out how resilient vegetables and trees could play a role in combating climate change and helping ease the island’s problems.
