Proving that she can do more than smile for the camera, the German supermodel Claudia Schiffer criticized the world's wealthiest countries for not doing enough to end third world poverty. Speaking during a photo shoot for the "Global Call to Action Against Poverty," Schiffer urged the rich not to "turn a blind eye" to the poor. "I have two children, but if I was living in parts of Africa I'd have a one in five chance of dying during child birth," Schiffer said. The group, which has stepped up its lobbying ahead of this weekend's meeting of the G8 finance ministers in London, is supported by various international celebrities such as Bob Geldof, Bono, Brad Pitt and George Clooney.
