December 10, 2015

Swiss authorities are currently searching for suspects in Geneva with ties to terrorism-related activities. Reports have suggested the search is in connection with the attacks in Paris last month.

Reports on Thursday said Swiss federal authorities were looking for suspects with possible links to the Paris terror attacks.

A statement from the Canton of Geneva's security department said police were "actively looking" for the individuals and had been deployed across the city. Later information said authorities were looking for four suspects with ties to the "Islamic State" (IS) terrorist group, the organization that claimed responsibility for the November 13 attacks in the French capital.

Security was beefed up around the United Nations complex and the city as a whole was put on terror alert.

Geneva lies on Switzerland's border with France and is around 500 kilometers (310 miles) from Paris.
