How to improve public transport in Bangkok

Commuters in the Thai capital spend hours a day stuck in traffic jams. Public transport is rundown and unreliable. Electric tuk-tuks are a green and efficient alternative, and the elevated rapid transit system, the Skytrain, is set to be expanded.

Tackling light pollution in cities

Light pollution is a problem in the industrialized world, with serious consequences for the health of people and animals in the affected areas. Some cities want to tackle this and have committed as International Dark Sky Communities.

Bats affected by light pollution

In the Netherlands, scientists are studying the effects of light pollution on bats. Fruit farmers in the region are giving the nocturnal animals refuge and using them to combat insects.
