For a long time his forerunners planted spruces to replace dead trees, although they don’t fit into the ecosystem there; the soil organisms and animals in this part of northern Europe rely on beech trees and oaks. Wohlleben is interested in maintaining biodiversity. We accompanied the forestry engineer on his rounds.
