Unearthing China's Civil War History

15/10/09October 15, 2009

On Thursday, Taiwanese writer Lung Ying-tai spoke at the 2009 Frankfurt Book Fair, where China is guest of honour. She has a reputation for not shying away from controversial topics. Her latest book "Big River, Big Sea", which came out last month, could well top her previous achievements. The bestseller is based on her travels and interviews over the past few months to uncover the untold history of China's civil war between 1945 and 1949 -- when the Communists under Mao Zedong conquered the mainland and drove the Kuomintang under Chiang Kai-shek to Taiwan.
