A week ago today, the first gay couples got married in the state of New York after it legalized same-sex marriage. Here in Germany, the legal ban on gay-marriages was revoked ten years ago, although that's still hardly a reason for boasting. Up until the late sixties, homosexualitiy was forbidden by law and could even lead to a prison sentence.
