The Chinese instant messaging service WeChat has 700 million users. Once they've provided their bank account information, the app can be used to pay bills and order goods and services. A German pilot project is now using the app to promote Bavaria. Chinese users can simply scan QR codes at hotels and sights to access information portals or booking sites.
