There's plenty of top Bundesliga talent. But who's best?

In a Bundesliga season that looks like it’ll go down to the wire, it’s often been the little moments of individual inspiration that have made the big difference.

From Robert Lewandowski’s five goal salvo against Wolfsburg in September to Henrikh Mkhitaryan’s masterful display against Stuttgart at the end of April, there have been solo performances that have inspired teams, sealed comebacks and rescued points. But we want to know who you think should be the DW Bundesliga Player of the Season.

With so many top class players currently strutting their stuff in Germany’s top flight, it might be hard to choose, so we’ve picked a few out below.

Robert Lewandowski

Bayern Munich have only lost twice all season in the Bundesliga, a statistic that speaks to their strength all over the pitch. Manuel Neuer, Thomas Müller and Arturo Vidal have impressed at different points in the campaign but it’s hard to look past the league’s top scorer Robert Lewandowski as the Bavarians’ key man.

The Polish international, who will face Germany in the Euro 2016 group stages, has already bagged 27 league goals, ten more than he notched in the 2014/15 season. Five of those came in one incredible nine minute spell against Wolfsburg on matchday six. The haul demonstrated the all round nature of his game – goals came from inside and outside the box and with both feet. He’s no slouch in the air either. Not bad for a free transfer…

Javier Hernandez

A newcomer to the league this year, the former Manchester United striker has proved a shrewd addition to Bayer Leverkusen’s squad, particularly in the earlier parts of the season.

His tally of 17 goals thus far is inferior to Lewandowski, Bayern’s Thomas Müller and Dortmund’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang but the fact he has contributed almost a third of Leverkusen’s goals underlines his importance to the side who secured third place on Saturday. His goals have also come at crucial times, none more so than the winner in Leverkusen’s thrilling 3-2 comeback win over local rivals Schalke on April 23.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan

The Armenian playmaker has been at Borussia Dortmund for three years but it’s only in this campaign, under the guidance of coach Thomas Tuchel, that he has really stepped out of the shadows and in to the limelight.

His tally of 11 goals and 15 assists (five ahead of second-placed Raffael) is undoubtedly impressive and Mkhitaryan’s vision, composure and passing stands out even in a team with such talents as Aubameyang and Marco Reus. He gave one of the strongest demonstrations of his class as recently as matchday 23 when his exquisite pass teed up Shinji Kagawa to open the scoring and his controlled finish completed a 3-0 win.
