Why is Saudi Arabia investing billions in sports?

Saudi Arabia has embarked on an investment spree. Sports is a big part of it. The country's leader Mohammad bin Salman says the kingdom is trying to diversify the economy away from oil. Critics say it is trying to cleanse its reputation as a haven of oppression through "sportswashing."
