Why Kenya's schools are burning

Kenya's Education Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i has ruled that schools will remain open until the end of term despite a disturbing spate of arson attacks. Teachers have threatened strike action.

Education in Kenya is in turmoil. Over 60 schools have been burnt to the ground over the last two months. One partial explanation for these arson attacks could be exam pressure in a corrupt school environment. DW's Isaac Mugabi has been talking to Andrew Rasugu Riechi, senior lecturer at the Department of Education Administration and Planning, University of Nairobi.
