World in Progress: Women vs. murder in Ciudad Juarez

The Mexican city of Cuidad Juarez is notorious for its high crime and murder rates. It was here that the term femicide was first used when a series of brutal murders of women began several years ago. Hardly any of these crimes have been solved. Women in Cuidad Juarez are now very publicly fighting back against violence — to push for change and a better life for their families.
