Courting Poland's youth vote

In Poland, family subsidies could be key to clinching the youth vote for the ruling Law and Justice party in the October 13 election. Set up in 2016, the program has boosted birth rates and reduced child poverty — some families have seen incomes double. But critics are warning this measure is being used to lure voters into supporting what they say is a nationalistic and undemocratic government.
