“桑迪”重创美国

经历了“桑迪”飓风猛烈袭击的纽约,开始致力于恢复正常秩序。据报道,飓风总共导致约50人丧生。风暴尚未完全过去,罗姆尼便恢复选战,奥巴马总统今天前往重灾区大西洋城视察灾情,也不乏以亲民助竞选的色彩。

据CNN电视台报道,如果也计入企业停产导致的损失,此次风灾造成的损失将远远超过200亿美元。
美国交通部称,仅纽约市用于抢修道路,桥梁和地铁的紧急援助资金就达100亿美元。纽约市的地铁隧道涌入大量含有盐分的海水。另外,还有300万美元的资金计划用于援助罗得岛州灾区。

 总统视察重灾区

新泽西州的灾情尤其严重。大西洋城就位于该州的海岸地区。州长克里斯·克里斯蒂(Chris Christie)周二表示,该地区永远不可能再恢复原貌。奥巴马总统周三前往新泽西州视察灾情。

结束选战"停火状态"

"桑迪"飓风只让美国的总统竞选出现暂停。共和党总统候选人米特·罗姆尼(Mitt Romney )周三就结束选战的"停火状态",到佛罗里达州参加几个竞选活动。而总统奥巴马视察重灾区新泽西州,也多少带有竞选色彩。

奥巴马显然想以此在选民中树立起关心国民的慈父形象,同时展现自己勇于处理危机的能力。奥巴马对新泽西州的访问,令德国人回想起2002年德国发生百年不遇的特大洪水时,正在参加竞选的联邦总理施罗德穿着防水雨靴,毅然访问奥得河和易北河洪水灾区的情形。人们认为,施罗德此举或许为他选举获胜赢得了关键的选票。

奥巴马和罗姆尼仍在进行激烈角逐。11月6日的选举结果如何仍难以预测。
